Civil Engg Work done by Agril Engineers/ CAETians in Odisha.

 Before 1995, the Agril Engineers in the state were only executing farm development work, repair of office buildings, garages etc. costing below rupees 1 lakh. During the period of Taradutta Sharma,IAS,Director, Agriculture & Food Production (95-98) the Agril Engineers were compelled to construct go-downs worth Rs. 7 lakh.

During the period of Sri Arabinda Padhi, IAS,Director, Agriculture & Food Production(2007-09) & Er U.P.Singh, Principal Secretary, Agriculture, Office buildings starting from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 4 crores were given to Agril Engineers for execution following the mode of ‘e’ tender process and engagement  of contractors starting from B class to Special class. Some of the completed buildings have been inaugurated by the Hon’ble Governor of Odisha, Chief Minister of of Odisha, op Agriculture Minister & different MLAs of the state including the RDC of northern zone. After 2007, the following work worth 101.56 crore have been executed by Agricultural Engineers within a period of two to there years.

Farm Information & Advisory Centre-200nos, estimated cost-60 crore.

Soil Testing Laboratory-14 nos,estimated cost 5.6 crore.

Seed Storage Godown- 17nos, estimated cost 8.5 crore

OSSOPCA Laboratory-3 nos, estimated cost 2.25 crore

OSSOPCA Office-5 nos, Estimated Cost 2.38 crore

Biofertiliser Testing laboratory,Barmunda,BBSR-1no, Estimated Cost 0.46 crore

Community Threshing Floor (20x20)sqm-100 nos,Estimated Cost 3.34 crore.

Community Threshing Floor(30x30)sqm- 110nos,Estimated Cost 7.93 crore

Jute Retting Tank-3nos,Estimated Cost 0.15 crore

Insecticide testing laboratory at Sambalpur-1no,Estimated Cost 0.60 crore.

Fertiliser testing laboratory at Raygada-1no,Estimated Cost 0.20 crore

Renovation of existing building at RITE,Rangeilunda,Mahisapat,Balangir-3nos,Estimated Cost 1.82 crore.

Construction of Officer’s Hostel at IMAGE ,Bhubaneswar-1no,Estimated Cost 3.73 crore.

Construction of new training hall-cum- rest house in MI & WU, Baramunda, BBSR and Renovation of existing building-1no,Estimated Cost 0.60 crore

Construction of Odisha Farm Machinery Research and Development Center and Renovation of Implement Factory-1nos,Estimated Cost 4 crore

 The meaning of water management is optimization of watering a crop as per it's requirement.In coming years we are going to face water stress in many parts of the world where as  to feed the growing population, cultivable land needs to be  increased along with water requirement for Agriculture. Therefore we are to control water while irrigating a crop. We should not allow water for deep percolation and drainage rather supply water up to root zone depth of a crop. We are to harvest each drop of rain water & prohibit it to drain to river & ocean.
